Children of St. Andrew's School, Meads, Eastbourne, raised over £1400 during a sponsored walk. Rotary allocated £1280 from their share fund and the Rotary Club of Taunton who donated £ 2500 the Rotary Club of Beachy Head were able to amass over £ 5500 toward the cost of a limb camp in India. This sum was then doubled by a Rotary Foundation Matching Grant from Rotary International in Evanston, USA.

........it was proposed to hold a Rotary Jaipur limb camp to supply without charge to poor handicapped persons in Changanacherry area of India. The youngest child to receive an artificial limp was six year old Mehima who had travelled 35 km to the camp. An above the knee limb was fixed to her at the camp and the next day Rtn. Scaria Jose, the project committee chairman saw her going around thanking all the Rotarians. When Mahima saw Scaria she came walking on the limb and said "Uncle, thanks a lot. I can now walk like my friends".
